Washington's 34 community and technical colleges offer a wide variety of professional-technical
training programs. The following program matrix shows general program areas and not the specific program titles
used by the colleges. The matrix is updated quarterly.
Program Approval Policy and Forms
The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (State Board) is required to approve all professional-technical degree and certificate programs prior to program implementation. In cooperation with the college system the State Board sets rules/procedures/guidelines that provide for the approval of all proposed new professional/technical programs, curriculum modifications and program title changes.
The following documents describe the process and include the necessary forms.
All programs should be continually reviewed for their effectiveness in meeting the training needs of industry, as well as in fulfilling the mission of the college. Programs failing to meet these needs should be subject to review for viability. The following document will help you through the process of determining whether a program is viable.

Program Advisory Committees
All professional-technical programs must have an advisory committee.

The updated CIP codes (CIP 2010) were implemented effective Summer Quarter 2010. The following documents represent a list of the new CIP codes and their descriptions.
