Grant Extension Dates

The 2012-2013 Grant Extension Process will open on Tuesday, March 20 and close Friday, April 20, 2012. The application Must Be Completed by Midnight April 20, 2012.

The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998, Title II of which authorizes the federal Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (AEFLA), expired eight years ago. Neither WIA nor AEFLA has been reauthorized by Congress. We negotiated a one-year extension of our state plan for adult education with the U.S. Department of Education in order to be able to receive and distribute federal adult education funds. As part of that process, we are authorized to extend existing Adult Basic Education (ABE) grants for another year, too.

There will be no new RFP (Request for Proposals); rather, all currently approved Adult Basic Education (ABE) programs are eligible for a one-year continuation of their current grant awards.

Request an Extension

On March 20, 2012, the Online Grant Management System (OGMS) will be available to current providers to request an extension for the 2012-2013 Program Year. The Master Application consists of six sections for narrative questions, the standard set of budget narrative questions, and program assurances. Please Note: the narrative responses MUST address each of your currently approved ABE grant awards that you want to continue operating for the coming year. You will complete a separate budget application, however, for each separate grant award.
