Edmonds Community College board of trustees gains two new members
Wood and Powers are both former board members of the Edmonds Community College Foundation. Governor Gregoire appointed Wood to serve a term through September 2011 and Powers through September 2009. They replace outgoing board members Alison Sing of Lynnwood, a retired senior economic development officer for Snohomish County Government, a college trustee since 1994, and Jack McRae, senior vice president of legislative and congressional affairs for Premera Blue Cross, a trustee since 2000. Wood is a former state senator and state representative. She was previously mayor of Woodway and a Woodway councilmember. She currently serves as president of the South County Senior Center Board, chair of the Edmonds Historical Museum Board and a member of the Snohomish County Budget Guidance team. She also serves on an advisory board for the College of Human Ecology at her alma mater Cornell University where she earned her bachelor of science degree in 1954. Powers is the vice-president and general auditor for Blue Cross of Washington and Alaska. He is a board member and past president for the Puget Sound chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
