Community and technical college board receives prestigious Telly Award

OLYMPIA – The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges received a Telly Award for its commercials that aired across the state on government access, cable and broadcast television stations this year.

Founded in 1978, the Telly Award is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions.

“This was the first time we produced ads to show the many ways Washington’s community and technical colleges create opportunities for residents and businesses,” said Suzy Ames, SBCTC director of communications. “We’re thrilled our ads were recognized by such a prestigious organization.”

The ads highlighted Gail Larson, CEO of Providence Everett Medical Center; James Curtis, an attorney at Preston Gates & Ellis and graduate of Tacoma Community College; and Joyeanna Chaudiere, a senior citizen who has taken continuing education classes at Edmonds Community College for decades.

The Telly Awards is a widely known and highly respected national and international competition, and receives over 12,000 entries annually from all 50 states and many foreign countries. Entries do not compete against each other. Rather, they compete against a high standard of excellence.
