Community and technical college board starts in-depth discussions about future budget requests
OLYMPIA – The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges will meet on March 12 and 13 in Olympia to launch an in-depth process to develop the system’s 2009-11 biennial budget requests.
“Board members are looking forward to robust conversations with college leaders, including presidents and trustees, as they frame the future of the two-year college system,” Executive Director Charlie Earl said. “The Board will work with stakeholders through June as it finalizes the requests.”
The Board will also discuss fall 2007 enrollment trends, and fiscal year 2009 budget allocations and tuition rates. They will preview a new Web site under development to promote two-year college programs.
The Board will consider taking action to approve two additional applied bachelor’s degrees and a policy to implement common course numbering. The technology transformation taskforce will discuss its progress toward developing a strategic plan. Approval of a property acquisition adjacent to Olympic College will be considered.
The meeting is scheduled from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on March 12 and from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on March 13. A breakfast meeting will occur from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on March 13. All meetings will take place at the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, 1300 Quince St. SE, Olympia in the Cascade Conference Room.
Board members and the executive director will have dinner on March 12 at 6 p.m. at the Water Street Café, 610 Water Street SW, Olympia. No official business will occur. All meetings are open to the public.
