COMMUNITY AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE BOARD TO CONSIDER COLUMBIA BASIN COLLEGE APPLIED BACHELOR’S DEGREE AND NEW MODEL OF TECHNOLOGY GOVERNANCE

OLYMPIA – The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges will hold a special meeting Tuesday at 10 a.m. to consider approving Columbia Basin College’s proposal to offer an applied bachelor’s degree.

The Board will also consider approving a new model of governance and management of system-level information technology functions.

If approved, the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges would assume responsibility for the Center for Information Services, which provides information technology services to the Washington’s public two-year community and technical colleges.

Columbia Basin College, Pasco, has submitted an application to offer an Applied Science in Applied Management bachelor’s degree beginning in fall 2009. The Board selected the first four applied baccalaureate pilots in April 2006 and an additional two in March 2008.

Board members will participate in the meeting via telephone. Space will be available for the public session at the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, Olympus Room, 403, 1300 Quince Street SE, Olympia.
