Community and technical college board considers 2009 budget
OLYMPIA, Wash. – The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges will meet on Wednesday, June 11, and Thursday, June 12, at Wenatchee Valley College (WVC) to take action on the 2009 operating and 2009-11 capital budget requests.
“This year, the budget development process was a collaborative effort which included the college presidents and trustees, State Board members and SBCTC staff,” said SBCTC Executive Director Charlie Earl. “Together, these groups spent the last five months building a priority list on which to base the budget.”
During the two-day meeting, the Board will consider approving the FY2009 federal workforce and adult basic education allocations. They will consider a number of resolutions, including contracts with e-learning technology companies and Transition Math Project contracts with K-12 partners.
The Board will hear updates about the statewide compensation study, student engagement activities and the system technology plan. Jim Richardson, WVC President, will give a presentation on issues related to Wenatchee Valley College.
For part of each day, the board will meet in executive session to review the performance of the executive director.
The study session is scheduled from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on June 11. The regular meeting is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on June 12. The Board will meet for dinner with WVC Trustees and staff in the WVC Cafeteria on June 11. No official business will be discussed.
Except for executive sessions, all meetings are open to the public and will be held at WVC, Wells Hall, Campus Theater, 1300 5th Street, Wenatchee.
