Winter Conference: January 24-25, 2016

2016 Transforming Lives:

The ACT Transforming Lives Awards recognize current or former students whose lives have been transformed by attending a Washington state community or technical college. Each Washington community and technical college selects an awardee. The ACT Awards Committee reviews all awardee nominations forms and selects five to serve as keynote speakers at the January 24, 2016, Transforming Lives dinner, and to receive a $500 cash award from ACT.

All of the colleges' awardees are are invited to attend the Transforming Lives dinner, which is the opening session of the ACT Legislative Contact (Winter) Conference, on January 24, 2016. Each awardee is provided dinner for his- or herself and one guest, and are welcome and encouraged to invite additional guests. Additional guests are able to participate for dinner at cost (to be determined).

Transforming Lives awardee events are tentatively scheduled as follows:

  • 4:30-5:30 p.m. -- Awardee Reception (State Room)
  • 5:30-6:00 p.m. -- Social (Forest Ballroom)
  • 6:00-6:30 p.m. -- Transforming Lives Awards Program (Forest Ballroom)
  • 8:00 p.m. -- ACT President's reception (State Room) -- MUST BE 21 TO ATTEND

Each nominee will write an essay for his or her nomination. All of the awardees' inspirational and moving essays will be included in an awards booklet, alon gwith their photos. The booklets will be available at the Transforming Lives dinner and Legislative Contact contact. Throughout 2016, the booklets will be shared with state and Congressional legislators and the higher education community in order to demonstrate what amazing things are happing on Washington community and technical college campuses.

Previous years' booklets are available below. The booklet for 2016 will be available on this site after the conclusion of the 2016 Legislative Contact Conference.
