Information Technology Specialist 4 (ITS4)

Position Overview

The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) is seeking a qualified data integration specialist.  The Information Technology Specialist 4 is a full-time, classified position and supports the agency mission by serving as a member of the Data Services team. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting and maintaining data structures used for processing and transferring data between systems.
  • Creating and maintaining data structures to support business intelligence reporting.
  • Extracting, transforming and loading data from various systems.
  • Developing and maintaining view scripts and procedures.
  • Customizing and maintaining databases.
  • Developing and maintaining technical documentation.

Extract, transform and load (ETL) data:

  • Access, extract and load data from various systems.
  • Maintain Microsoft SQL Server 2012 SSIS packages and stored procedures.
  • Transform data from various systems.
  • Merge data from legacy and PeopleSoft systems.
  • Develop and maintain SQL views to support the extraction of data.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation.
  • Maintain data dictionary documentation.

Support Business Intelligence: 

  • Produce data structures used by reporting solutions.
  • Validate accuracy of data structures used for reporting.

Documentation:

  • Develop and maintain process documentation.
  • Maintain data dictionary documentation.

Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a related field. Professional/relevant experience will substitute year for year for the higher education requirement.
  • Knowledge of relational databases.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL Server 2012.
  • Advanced knowledge with Export, Transform and Load (ETL) processes using SQL Server Integration Services(SSIS) or Oracle Data Integration (ODI).
  • Advanced skill of writing SQL scripts.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships, understand core needs of the customer and define requirements appropriately.
  • Ability to create effective solutions to problems.
  • Ability to adapt easily to changing priorities in business needs, conditions and work responsibilities.
  • Ability to make independent decisions about work priorities and perform multiple tasks with conflicting timelines.
  • Ability to prepare technical documentation.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently solve problems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

This is a full-time, classified position. The annual compensation for this position is listed above. The salary for this position is based on the Non-Represented General Service Salary Schedule.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities and reports to the Director of Data Services.
