Hearings resume as Legislature reaches Floor Cutoff

The Legislature reached floor cutoff on Wednesday, which means that bills had to be voted out of their originating chamber in order to continue on in the legislative process. Committee hearings resumed Thursday, with House bills being heard in the Senate and Senate bills being heard in the House. Neither the House Higher Education Committee nor the Senate Higher Education Committee held hearings this week. >>

College system-requested bills passed, others up for hearings as policy committees reach cutoff

Today marks the first cutoff of the 2017 session: bills in policy committees must be approved by that committee in order to continue on in the legislative process. The House version of the leasehold excise tax exemption bill was up for a hearing while the House version of the corrections education bill was heard before the House Appropriations Committee. >>
