What is Quality Matters?
Quality Matters (QM) is a faculty-centered peer review process designed to support, improve and certify the quality of online courses and digital learning materials. SBCTC eLearning applies funds to Quality Matters training and certification for each community and technical college each year
QM training is open to community and technical college faculty, administrators and staff statewide. While geared toward online and blended course design, even instructors who teach primarily face-to-face (f2f) or web-enhanced courses will benefit from taking the introductory Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) course. Most participants find the QM rubric to be an excellent course design checklist.
SBCTC will pay the tuition for first-time participants in the following Quality Matters facilitated workshops:
- Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR)
- Peer Reviewer Course (PRC)
- Master Reviewer Certification (MRC)
- Addressing Accessibility & Usability (Std. 8)
- F2F Facilitator Certification (FFC)(with approval)
- Online Facilitator Certification (OFC)(with approval)
- IYOC Online Facilitator Certification (IOFC)(with approval)
- QM Coordinator Training (QMCT)(Institutional QM Coordinators only)
- Course Review Manager Certification (CRMC) (Institutional QM Coordinators only)
SBCTC eLearning & Open Education also supports system facilitated QM workshops. The system workshops are taught by certified facilitators from within our own system and participants interact with peers from across Washington state.
SBCTC will pay the $25 technology fee for first-time participants in the following system facilitated workshops:
