Points of Interest

Through programs including Licensed Practical Nursing, Registered Nursing (RN), Diagnostic Medical Sonography, and Radiology Technology, Spokane Community College plays a vital role in training healthcare professionals in Eastern Washington. To expand access for rural students, the Licensed Practical Nursing program will launch in Stevens County in 2026, creating new opportunities for students and their communities.

Workforce training programs offer individuals the opportunity to skill up with short-term, career-focused training to meet regional employer workforce needs. These programs offer a fast-turnaround, modular option for starting a new career or enhancing credentials that align to future advancement in degree programs. Program highlights include Introduction to Biomanufacturing, Basic Manufacturing Certification, Phlebotomy, and Commercial Truck Driving, all created in partnership with Spokane-based employers. Students without previous experience graduate from programs with connections to full time employment opportunities.

Spokane Community College’s apprenticeship programs are experiencing ongoing growth, reflecting increased student interest and employer demand for skilled trades professionals. These programs combine paid, on-the-job training with related classroom instruction, providing a structured pathway into high-demand fields across the region. As participation continues to expand, the college faces growing pressure to ensure that instructional and lab facilities can accommodate this demand. Continued investment in modern training spaces will be essential to sustain program quality and meet Eastern Washington’s workforce needs.
