Vice presidents of instruction meet on the hill
Feb. 12—Members of the Instruction Commission (IC) joined State Board staff on the
hill Thursday. Legislators, including Rep. Dave Paul, chair of the House Postsecondary Education and Workforce Committee, and Rep. Steve Bergquist spoke about the challenges the legislature is facing this session.
Coming up next week
Floor action continues until Tuesday when session reaches its third cutoff deadline. Bills in their originating house need to be approved by that chamber by 5 p.m. to continue in the legislative process. Committees will go back to work Wednesday to hear bills from the opposite chamber. The state’s revenue forecast will be released early next week, which will inform the House and Senate as they draft their proposed supplemental budgets.
