Last cutoff passes, session heads into final full week

With just over a week to go in the 2023 legislative session, the House and Senate on Wednesday reached their last major cutoff deadline, when bills coming from the opposite chamber needed to receive a vote. Thursday marked session's halfway point, and representatives and senators spent the week on the floor debating and voting on bills ahead of Wednesday's floor cutoff deadline. On the docket this week were bills expanding the Washington College Grant and the College Bound Scholarship, as well as making permanent the Supporting Students Experiencing Homelessness program. >>

Dual credit, financial support, Career Connect bills heard as session ends third week

Legislators this week continued committee hearings, taking up bills on Career Connect Washington, dual credit, the College Bound Scholarship, campus decarbonization plans, corrections education and creating a Native American scholarship program.
