State Board to give final approval to 2016 legislative agenda

OLYMPIA, Wash. — The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges will convene its December regular business meeting Dec. 2 from 1 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. at Highline College. On the agenda is approving the college system’s 2016 state legislative agenda. Board members will also hear a presentation from representatives from the Council of Unions and Student Programs (CUSP) and the Washington Community and Technical Colleges Student Association (WACTCSA).

An advisory representative from CUSP and a student leader from WACTCSA will cover the groups’ 2016 legislative agenda. CUSP provides guidance to student activity directors at Washington’s 34 community and technical colleges. With involvement in WACTCSA and with the support of CUSP, students learn communication skills, legislative advocacy, and government processes.

The State Board’s business meeting will be held at Highline College’s Building 2, 2400 S. 240th Street in Des Moines. The agenda and background materials are posted at the State Board’s website.

The meeting is open to the public.
