State Board to vote on tuition schedule, bachelor's degrees

OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges will hold its regular business meeting Thursday, Feb. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The board is expected to vote on the 2024-25 tuition and fee schedule for the system's colleges and approve bachelor's degree programs at:

  • Bellevue College for a Bachelor of Applied Science in Radiation Therapy.
  • Clark College for a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
  • Green River College for a Bachelor of Applied Science in Accounting.
  • Peninsula College for a Bachelor of Applied Science in Teacher Education.

Board members will also hear updates on the 2024 legislative session — including the college system's priorities and Gov. Jay Inslee's budget proposals' impact on the system — leadership professional development, and impacts on students and colleges of the newly Congressionally-mandated update to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The board will also hold a study session Wednesday, Jan. 31 when it will participate in a discussion on campus safety and security, and hear statements of need for degree programs at:

  • Shoreline Community College and Everett Community College for a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
  • Olympic College for a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
  • Clover Park Technical College for a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Cyber-Physical Software Engineering.

Members will also hear an in-depth presentation and hold a community roundtable discussion on its strategic plan, focusing on ways to enroll recent high school graduates at community and technical colleges.

The business meeting and study session will be held at the State Board office, 1300 Quince St. SE in Olympia. The agenda and background materials are posted on the State Board website. Both meetings are open to the public.
