State Board to take action on college system 2017 budget requests

OLYMPIA, Wash. — The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges will hold its regular business meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 28 with the community and technical college system's 2017-19 budget requests to the Washington state Legislature slated for action. Also on the agenda is potential action on seven applied bachelor's degrees and discussion of eight other applied bachelor's degree proposals.

Wednesday’s business meeting is open to the public.

Prior to the business meeting, the board will hold its annual retreat Monday, Sept. 26 and Tuesday, Sept. 27. Board members will review system progress and set goals for the 2016-17 year. Also up for discussion is the current state and future of the mission of our community and technical colleges. Members will also give input on a college-system advocacy strategy for the 2017 legislative session and for the long-term.

The business meeting and retreat will be held at the Semiahmoo Resort, 9565 Semiahmoo Parkway in Blaine. The meeting agenda and background materials are posted at the State Board's website.
