Shoreline Community College logoFounded in 1964, Shoreline Community College offers more than 100 rigorous academic and professional-technical degrees and certificates to meet the lifelong learning needs of its diverse students and communities. Dedicated faculty and staff are committed to the educational success of its nearly 9,000 students who hail from across the United States and over 50 countries. Located 10 miles north of downtown Seattle, Shoreline’s campus is one of the most strikingly beautiful college campuses in the state. The grounds once served as a special place to the Coastal Salish and Duwamish people for gathering traditional foods in ways that increased the bounty of the land.

Shoreline’s professional-technical programs continue to earn regional and national recognition for exceptional curricula, stellar faculty and thriving business partnerships. With a nationally recognized Automotive program, Shoreline is leading the charge to greater sustainability in the automotive industry. Programs such as Clean Energy, Purchasing and Supply Chain Management, Health Informatics and Information Management, Biotechnology, and Manufacturing impart real-world skills that position graduates at the forefront of the job market in fields that employers will need. 

Supporting students’ academic and personal success 

Shoreline Community College has a longstanding reputation for excellence in transfer to the University of Washington and top universities nationwide. The Honors College offers students advanced coursework, undergraduate research opportunities, and additional transfer support. A residence hall offers a convenient and safe environment for students to call home, with housing scholarships for formerly homeless students. In a partnership with United Way of King County, the Benefits Hub connects students with financial and personal resources on and off campus. Shoreline supports out-of-school youth through the Career Education Options program and Learning Center North (in partnership with King County Work Training Program). 

A commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) 

The college is continuing its mission to drive our purpose: to serve the educational, workforce and cultural needs of our diverse students, staff and surrounding community. With an intentional and transparent approach to bring greater accountability and execution, collectives like Guided Pathways, DEI Advisory Group, and affinity groups work together to create strategic planning with initiatives and goals, enrollment excellence, and professional learning /development. The most important action is bringing a sense of belongingness back to campus so that we can eradicate barriers prohibiting success for our students, staff and faculty. Together we are creating more cohesive practices and harboring shared learning so silos within the system will cease to exist and progression is made, lifting up those that were previously marginalized, disenfranchised and unheard.
