Budget proposals released, Senate honors Yoshiwara, session passes another cutoff

Following last week's strong state revenue forecast announcement, House and Senate budget writers Monday released their versions of the supplemental operating budget. The House also released its version of the capital budget. The Senate honored Jan Yoshiwara on Tuesday with a resolution ahead of her July 31 retirement, thanking her for her 44 years of service to the community and technical college system. >>

Session opens with hearings on student support, financial aid, budgets

The Legislature on Monday picked up where it left off in 2021 — remotely. While already planning to hold hearings by Zoom, the House and Senate decided recently to limit the number of people allowed on chambers' floor, close the public galleries, and move floor debates and votes to a hybrid format. >>
