College system bills moving as fiscal committees wrap up work today

Community and technical college trustees and college and university regents Thursday joined forces for the annual College Promise Coalition Day on the Hill. In Zoom meetings with representatives and senators, they asked that the Legislature avoid budget cuts to higher education, protect investments made through the Workforce Education Investment Act, and invest in higher education to help in the state's economic recovery. >>

2021 Legislative Session Kicks Off in Virtual World

The House and Senate gavels came down Monday, marking the start of what will no doubt be a unique legislative session. Legislators arrived in Olympia and, under heavy security called for by Gov. Inslee because of threats of violence, voted to change chamber rules to work remotely for the 105 day session to help maintain safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. >>
