The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges at its Aug. 29 business meeting is set to approve the college system's 2025-27 operating budget request to the Washington state Legislature. >>

The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) will receive a $9.3 million grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to develop a climate-ready workforce. The grant was announced today at a NOAA news conference focused on the Climate-Ready Workforce for Coastal States, Tribes and Territories initiative. Over the next four years, SBCTC will use the funds to support the “Tribal Stewards Program,” an initiative to cultivate a new generation of Tribal leaders and non-Tribal environmental co-stewards skilled in natural resources management. >>
Gov. Jay Inslee has appointed Dr. Bernal Baca of Tacoma, Wash., as a member of the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges. >>
The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) recently received a $2 million grant from the National Science Foundation for a 5-year initiative that will expand research opportunities for students. Colleges will use the grant funding to help embed research projects into class curricula so whole classes of students can participate in research projects rather than just a select few. >>
