OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges at its regular business meeting Thursday, Dec. 11 is slated to approve the State Board executive director's annual priorities and method for evaluating progress toward meeting those goals. Those goals, presented at the October board meeting, are:
- strengthen agency culture and capacity
- identify strategic opportunities
- enhance fiscal health and transparency
- position system for next strategic planning cycle
The board is also scheduled to vote on an increase to the college system’s 2026-27 tuition and fee schedule, in line with the state’s College Affordability Program which ties increases to median wage inflation. If the increase is approved, Washington residents enrolled full time in lower division classes can expect to pay $1,697.30 per quarter, an increase of $52.
Members have also set aside time to honor the life and service of State Board member Dr. Bernal Baca, who passed away Nov. 28.
Board members will hold a study session Wednesday, Dec. 10, during which time they are expected to hear a preview of the 2026 legislative session, as well as updates from the State Board's legislative intern and the Washington Community and Technical Colleges Student Association.
The study session and business meeting will be held on Zoom and streamed live on TVW. The agenda and background materials are posted on the State Board website. The meetings are open to the public.
