About the Council

The Dual Credit Council (DCC) strengthens Washington's dual credit pathways by coordinating policy, improving program operations, and supporting seamless transitions from high school to postsecondary credentials. The Council serves as the unified voice of the community and technical college system for Running Start, College in the High School, and Career and Technical Education Dual Credit. 

The Council brings together dual credit leaders from across Washington's community and technical colleges to address shared challenges, identify opportunities, and strengthen statewide coordination. 

The Instruction Commission (IC) and Washington State Student Services Commission (WSSSC) established the Dual Credit Council as a three year pilot to address a growing need for coordination across dual credit programs. The Council provides a forum for colleges to collaborate on shared challenges and opportunities related to Running Start, College in the High School, and Career and Technical Education Dual Credit. The pilot will help determine the value of a formal statewide council for the community and technical college system.
