Creating DataExpress Reports that Link FAS and SMS Data
The purpose of this training guide is teach you how to create reports by extracting and combining data from the Financial Aid, Student Management and other databases. The manual includes information about what is included in each database so that you will know where to obtain the information you want. You can use these materials to create practice procedures that link data sets among the databases. The manual also includes reference information about the process flow for financial aid and a description of the cataloged DataExpress procedures that are available for financial aid.

Creating Multi-pass DataExpress Procedures Using SD Files and Subfiles
Use this training guide to learn how to create reports resulting from two or more DataExpress procedures. When creating these multi-pass procedures, you can set up data files you create yourself by using SD (self-describing) files and DataExpress subfiles. This training guide describes SD files, temporary files, DataExpress subfiles, and explains when to use each. You can use these materials to practice creating multi-pass procedures for each of the following:

  • Using a KSAM SD file
  • Using a DataExpress subfile
  • Using a temporary file

Using DataExpress with FMS Customer Accounts and Subledger Data - Level 1
The purpose of this training guide is to teach you how to create reports by extracting and combining data from the Customer Accounts, Subledger, Point of Sale, Table 1, and Student Management databases. The manual includes information about what is included in each database so that you will know where to obtain the information you want. You can use these materials to create practice procedures that use data from the Subledger (SLEDG) database and from the Customer Accounts (CA) database. You can also learn how to link data sets in the Customer Accounts and Student Management databases in order to create procedures that combine data from both of these databases.

Using DataExpress with PPMS Data - Level 1
The purpose of this class is to introduce you to the basic concepts of PPMS database structure and to teach you to create simple DataExpress procedures using PPMS data. This class covers database structure and terminology, in general, and information about the Employee database, in particular. In addition to learning the basic steps for creating a DataExpress procedure, you will learn how to create a computational field and how to obtain data from two or more data sets by linking them together.

This class provides an overview of DataExpress functionality and navigation. Output, sorting, summarization, and selection criteria are described in the training guide. You will also learn how to create computational fields and how to obtain and link multiple data sets.
