Apprenticeship Fees Guidance
The following information has been issued as fee guidance for the 2020-2021 academic year.
Each year, the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges issues policy on tuition and fee rates.
For ungraded apprenticeship courses, the college shall waive an amount equal to one-half of the standard per-credit amount for tuition (operating and building fees) and services and activities (S&A) fees at $56.52 per credit, or a clock hour option of $3.77 per clock hour. Technical colleges operating on a clock hour basis may determine whether they will use the standard lecture/lab ratio or the mixed/variable rate at 16.5:1. There is no separate charge for building or S&A fee (waiver is 50 percent of the current total tuition and fees rate). Colleges are afforded the option to use either the credit or clock hour basis in establishing rates for courses.
Contract rates and rent
By agreement reached between the presidents, the SBCTC, and the apprenticeship training
community, minimum rates have been established for contracting training from the training
trusts and paying “rent” when trust facilities are used for the training. It was agreed
that those rates would be adjusted biennially, based on the system budget changes
funded by the Legislature.*
The contract rate for 2020-21 is $3,051 and rent is $508 (total = $3,559).
*There will be an exception in academic year 2020-21. By agreement, the contract rates and rent are frozen at 2019-20 levels.
