What is Quality Matters?
Quality Matters (QM) is a collaborative and collegial quality assurance program centered on the idea of continuous course improvement. The program includes:
- Professional development workshops
- A Research-based course review rubric
- A faculty-centered peer review process designed to support, improve, and certify the quality of online and blended learning courses
SBCTC Educational Technology and Open Education funds an annual system level subscription to Quality Matters (QM) for all 34 Washington community and technical colleges. Selected QM training and certification for community and technical college faculty and staff is also funded annually.
SBCTC Quality Matters training is open to community and technical college faculty, administrators, and staff statewide. While geared toward online and blended course design, even instructors who primarily teach face-to-face (f2f) or web-enhanced courses will benefit from taking the introductory Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) course.
