Continuous Training: Accessibility Micro Courses

SBCTC offers the Accessibility Micro Courses to help you learn how to create accessible documents such as Word, PowerPoint, PDF and more.

Sign up for the Micro Courses now! In order to earn badges you must select the Accessibility Proponent Badge located inside the Pathways option within the Canvas Course Navigation.

FREE Document Accessibility Webinar with WebAIM

Tuesday, July 23rd at 11 a.m. on Zoom

Join George Joeckel, the Online Training Program Manager at WebAIM (Web Accessibility in Mind) for an introduction of the fundamental principles and processes for creating accessible documents. This training covers headings in Word, slide titles in PowerPoint, sheet names in Excel, alt text, and exporting to PDF.

Learn tips and tricks to help make sure your documents are usable and readable by people with disabilities. Since 2018, WebAIM has taught these best practices to over 8,000 trainees – don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity!

The 2023 Web Accessibility Learning Lab

SBCTC and CATO (Committee for Accessible Technology Oversight) are offering a brand new training program called The Web Accessibility Learning Lab, or The WA Lab. This is cohort-based ten week intensive training program and WebAIM will provide technical training to participants. Learn more about The WA Lab on the What's New page!

This training ended in May 2023 and all teams submitted their Action Plans to SBCTC. Stay tuned for more information about the 2024 Web Accessibility Learning Lab. 

OCR Video Series

The US Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights (OCR) has launched a brand-new video series exploring digital and web accessibility. These videos are meant to touch on a wide variety of topics and present a learning opportunity for everyone.

BEdA Biennial Conference

Monica Olsson (SBCTC) and Susanne Weatherly presented a two hour Accessible Design Concepts training to our our system's BEdA faculty and staff in July 2022.

GAAD

This past May 19, 2023 marked the 11th anniversary of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, or GAAD!
