About Us
The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges — led by a nine-member governor-appointed board — advocates, coordinates and directs Washington state’s system of 34 public community and technical colleges.
Each year, about 273,000 students train for the workforce, prepare to transfer to a university, gain basic math and English skills, or pursue continuing education. Our students, graduates and community partners increase the state’s quality of life and economic vitality as entrepreneurs, employees, consumers and taxpayers.
Our Colleges
Our colleges create better jobs, brighter futures and a stronger Washington. Discover why community and technical colleges are a great choice for students.
Three Mission Areas
Washington state's community and technical college system focuses on three mission areas:
- Basic Education for Adults (includes GED®, English as a Second Language, and basic reading, math, writing skills)
- Workforce education (training students for direct entry into a career)
- Academic transfer (preparing students to transfer to a university)
