Help: To receive a copy of the help message, send a message with the word "Help" in the subject line or body to [listname]@lists.ctc.edu.
Password: To receive a password reminder, send a message with the word "password" in the subject line to [listname]-request@lists.ctc.edu. Your password will be emailed to you.
To prevent .txt attachments, use the Plain Text option in your email application. If you do not format your email messages in Plain Text, when you receive an email from a list, it will include a small .txt attachment, for example, ATT06106.txt (377 B). The attachment displays the list's footer which includes the list's name, email address, and information page URL.
When you send an email to a list, Mailman adds a Sender header to the email. (example, [Listname]-bounces@lists.ctc.edu; on behalf of; John, Doe [jdoe@rtc.edu])
Because Microsoft Outlook reads the Sender header rather than the From header, the Mailman Sender header appears in the From field. Most email programs will display the correct information from the original poster in the From field.
A message sent to multiple mailing lists is received only once by members using Microsoft Exchange server and MS Outlook.
For example, if a systemwide message is sent to 30 lists and you are a member of 10 of those lists, you will receive the message only once rather than 10 times.
This is outside of SBCTC-ITD's control.
